How to play food stall
Your child is the shopkeeper. A customer walks up and asks for something, out loud, in your child's language; the order also appears as pictures in the speech bubble. Your child taps the right things on the shelf and they drop into the basket. When the order is complete the customer says thank you and the next one arrives. Tap the speech bubble at any time to hear the order again.
It grows with your child
The game reads the age you set under the ⚙ grown-ups button. At two to three the customer asks for one thing from a shelf of four — a naming game. At three to four it is two things from six, so your child has to hold an order in mind. At four to five amounts appear: "three mangoes" means tapping the mango three times while Golu counts. At five to six there are three different things with amounts up to five, which is quietly a memory task and a counting task at once.
Why pretend play matters
Playing shop is one of the oldest learning games there is, and early-years teachers in every country keep a shop corner in the classroom for good reason. To play a shopkeeper a child has to listen to another person, remember what they want, find it, count it, and hand it over politely — language, memory, number and manners in one go. Researchers who study play call this kind of role play the leading activity of the preschool years: it is where children practise being someone a little older and more capable than they are.
Then play it for real
The screen version is the rehearsal. The real game needs five things from the kitchen, a bag, and some buttons or bottle tops for money. Take turns being the customer. Ask for "two spoons and a cup, please", pay with three buttons, and ask for your change. When your child is the customer, be a slightly forgetful shopkeeper — being corrected by a four-year-old is excellent for their confidence.

Now do it for real
When the screen goes off, do something with your hands. Try 👑 Nature crown — an easy craft for ages 3-6, with every step read aloud in your language. You will need a strip of paper long enough to go round a head, leaves, petals and small twigs, glue or tape; nothing that needs a trip to a shop.
