Between four and five, children start telling stories with two or more events, answer "why" and "what next" questions, and keep a conversation going. Their ears get sharp enough to hear rhymes and the first sound of a word, which is when phonics starts to make sense. In maths they count out loud to 20, count objects reliably to about 10, compare two groups, and copy and extend patterns like red-blue-red-blue. They take turns in games, follow simple rules and can name more feelings. Their hands are ready to copy a cross and a square and to cut along a line.
The best games for 4 year olds give a real puzzle, four choices, quick feedback and a small win. Every game here does that without ever saying "wrong": a mistaken tap names the picture, then the answer glows, then Golu points to it.

How to play free, online, without downloading
These are free games for 4 year olds without downloading anything: they open in the browser on an Android phone, an iPad or a computer. There is no sign-up. After the first visit a page keeps working on a weak connection, which helps in a car or on a train.
- Set the age to 4-5 in Settings (a short grown-up check keeps little fingers out). Games then give four choices and more questions.
- Choose languages with the अ+A button. For English games for 4 year olds, set English first; for Hindi practice, set Hindi first or Hindi only.
- Count the marbles. Each finished game drops a marble in the Goli Jar. Tap the jar and count them together; that is a counting game too.
- Stop while it is fun. One or two games of 10-15 minutes is plenty.

- Let them lead. Four-year-olds love to be the teacher. Let them quiz you and get one "wrong" on purpose.

Every child is different. If your four-year-old does not speak in sentences of four or more words, does not ask to play with other children, or has lost skills they once had, talk to your paediatrician.
Adapting games for every child
If a game is too hard, switch on "fewer choices" or set the age one band lower; if it is too easy, move up a band. For a child with speech delay, use Listen mode and model one word at a time. For an autistic child, calm sound, high contrast and a predictable daily slot help; warn before stopping. In bilingual homes, mixing Hindi and English in one sentence is normal. If your child gets frustrated, stop, breathe together ("smell the flower, blow the candle") and come back later.
