Birds name in Hindi and English is a lovely first topic because birds are everywhere: on the balcony, the electric wire, the temple roof and the school tree. On this page your child taps a picture and hears the bird's name in clear audio in both languages, like मोर and peacock, गौरैया and sparrow, or कोयल and koel. There are 27 birds, from the hen in the village to the flamingo by the lake, and the same birds appear in every game so your child meets each name many times.
What your child learns, and at what age
- Age 2-3: five to eight birds they can see at home, such as the crow, pigeon, sparrow, hen and parrot, plus the sounds they make. Toddlers love copying "caw caw" and "coo".
- Age 3-4 (nursery class): about 10 birds name in Hindi and English, and the idea that birds have feathers, wings and a beak.
- Age 4-5 (LKG and UKG class): 15 to 20 birds, simple facts ("the peacock is India's national bird"), and sorting birds into farm birds and wild birds.
- Age 5-6 (class 1 and class 2): all 27 birds, reading and writing easy names, and talking about where birds live and what baby birds are called.
How to play the birds game
The play zone has five modes. Listen is a picture board: tap a bird and hear its name. Find it asks "Where is the owl?" with two to four big pictures. Sounds plays a bird call such as the rooster's cock-a-doodle-doo and asks who makes it. Silly? asks funny questions like "The duck says moo!" and your child decides if it is silly or right. Memory is a pairs game.
No game ever says "wrong". A wrong tap gets a gentle hint: your child hears the name of what they tapped, then the right bird glows, then Golu the marble points to it. Each game ends with a marble in the Goli Jar; tap it and count together. Set your child's age in Settings (behind a grown-up check) to change how many choices appear, and use the अ+A button for Hindi first, English first or one language only.

The full word list with pictures, Hindi, pronunciation and 🔊 buttons is just above, in the grown-ups section. Print this page from your browser and that list becomes a neat birds name chart for kids. The table below groups the same birds so you can have little conversations about them.

Five birds name in Hindi to start with
If you only have a minute, start with these five easy birds for kids: कौआ (crow), कबूतर (pigeon), तोता (parrot), मोर (peacock) and मुर्गी (hen). Then add the sparrow, duck, owl, eagle and koel to make 10 birds. Adding five more makes a set of 15, and the remaining ones take you past 20.
How to learn bird names at home in 5-10 minutes
- Window watch. Every morning, look out together for two minutes. Crows, pigeons, mynas and sparrows are common birds in India. Name each one you see in both languages.
- Copy the call. After the Sounds game, take turns making bird calls and guessing. The koel's "kuhu kuhu" in summer is easy to spot in most Indian towns.
- Bird feeding. Put a shallow bowl of water and a few grains on the balcony in summer. Watching who visits turns names into friends.
- Feather hunt. Pick up a fallen feather in the park, look at it closely and wash hands afterwards.
- Draw and colour. Draw a simple bird with a circle body, a triangle beak and two wings, then name it.
For class 1 and class 2 children who ask "birds name kaise likhe" (how to write bird names), start with short words. In English, try hen, owl and crow. In Hindi, try मोर, तोता and कौआ. Say each sound slowly as your child writes it.
Chart and worksheet ideas you can make
There is no PDF download, but printing this page gives you a clean chart with every bird's picture, its Hindi and English name, and pronunciation. For a worksheet, fold the printout so the name column is hidden and ask your child to say each name. For UKG and class 1, cut the pictures out, glue them on paper, and let your child copy the English or Hindi word below each one. A teacher can project the Find it game and let the nursery class take turns.
Hindi-speaking grandparents often search for पक्षियों के नाम हिंदी में or पक्षियों के नाम अंग्रेजी में; the printed list answers both, since every row shows the Hindi and English name side by side. For LKG and UKG, pick 10 easy birds from the list; for class 2, use all of them and add the pronunciation column.
Birds in Indian life, and a global note
The peacock (मोर) is India's national bird, and it dances with its tail spread wide, especially when the monsoon clouds come. The house sparrow (गौरैया) was once in every courtyard; World Sparrow Day on 20 March reminds us to keep water and nesting spots for it. The koel sings loudly in the summer months, and poets call its voice the sweetest in the garden. The sarus crane is the tallest flying bird in the world and lives in the wetlands of north India. Vultures (गिद्ध) help keep the land clean, and people across India are working to protect them. Around the world, children also learn about penguins in icy Antarctica and ostriches in Africa, the biggest bird of all.
Keep exploring: animal sounds for kids has more calls, animals and their homes shows where birds live, national symbols of India includes the peacock and lotus, and insects name in Hindi and English is the next small-creature step.
Tips for every child
Praise effort: "You listened so carefully to the owl!" If your child gets upset, switch to Listen, which has no questions. For speech delay, accept pointing and say the name for your child; for autistic children, the steady Listen board and calm sound setting can help. In bilingual families, one parent can say the Hindi name and the other the English name. Keep screen time short and shared, and remember that children under two learn best from a grown-up and a real bird at the window. If you are worried about speech, talk to your paediatrician.
