Body parts in Bengali are among the first words a baby learns, often in lap games with মা or দিদা: "চোখ কোথায়?" (chokh kothay?, where is the eye?). This page has 30 body parts with pictures and clear audio, from মাথা (matha, head) and চুল (chul, hair) to পায়ের পাতা (payer pata, foot), plus four inside the body: brain, heart, lungs and bones. Tap a picture to hear it in Bengali and English, then play Find it and touch the same part on yourself.
Face parts name in Bengali
Start with the face, in front of a mirror, where your child can see and touch every part:
| English | Bengali | Say it |
|---|---|---|
| Face | মুখ | mukh |
| Eye | চোখ | chokh |
| Ear | কান | kan |
| Nose | নাক | nak |
| Mouth | হাঁ-মুখ | ha-mukh |
| Lips | ঠোঁট | thont |
| Tongue | জিভ | jibh |
| Teeth | দাঁত | dant |
| Cheek | গাল | gal |
| Chin | থুতনি | thutni |
In Bengali, মুখ means both face and mouth. To make the difference clear, the game calls the open mouth হাঁ-মুখ, from হাঁ করো (ha koro, "open wide"), the very words you use when feeding a toddler or checking teeth. দাঁত is also the picture word for দ on the Bengali alphabet page.
Hands, arms, legs and feet in Bengali
In everyday Bengali, হাত (hat) means both arm and hand, and পা (pa) means both leg and foot. The game adds exact words: হাতের তালু (hater talu), the palm, and পায়ের পাতা, the flat of the foot. Notice how Bengali builds names:
- আঙুল (angul) is a finger. বুড়ো আঙুল (buro angul) is the thumb, "old finger", and পায়ের আঙুল (payer angul) is a toe, "the leg's finger".
- কাঁধ (kandh) shoulder · কনুই (konui) elbow · নখ (nokh) nail · হাঁটু (hantu) knee
- গলা (gola) neck, which also means throat and voice · পেট (pet) tummy · পিঠ (pith) back
Children laugh at "old finger" for the thumb. Ask why it might be called that; there is no wrong answer, and talking about it builds language.
Inside the body: internal body parts in Bengali
Five- and six-year-olds are curious about what is inside. The game includes মগজ (mogoj, brain), হৃদপিণ্ড (hridpindo, heart), ফুসফুস (fushfush, lungs) and হাড় (har, bones). ফুসফুস even sounds like breathing: say it slowly and puff. After running, put your child's hand on their chest to feel the heart beat fast, then take a big breath together and feel the ফুসফুস fill up. In everyday talk people often say বুক (buk, chest) for the heart area.
Rhymes, games and daily moments
- Sing it. Use the tune of "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" with মাথা, কাঁধ, হাঁটু, পা. Go faster each round.
- Where is it? "নাক কোথায়?" Your child points. Then swap roles, and point wrongly now and then for giggles.
- Old rhymes. In আয় আয় চাঁদ মামা, the moon is asked to put a টিপ on the child's forehead; touch the forehead as you sing.
- Bath time. Name each part as you wash or oil it, from মাথা to পা.
- Animal bodies. The হাতি has big কান, the খরগোশ long ones. Compare on animals name in Bengali.

Count ten fingers with numbers in Bengali: দশটা আঙুল. For feelings, emotions for kids shows happy and sad faces; ask what the চোখ and মুখ are doing. The English and Hindi body parts name game has the same 30 words.
Habits, health and body safety
Body words help children tell you how they feel. "পেট ব্যথা করছে" (my tummy hurts) is one of the most useful sentences a small child can learn. Link words to good habits: brush your দাঁত, cut your নখ, wash your হাত before eating. It is also a calm moment to teach that some parts are private, and that your child can always tell you if something feels wrong.
For children with speech delay, pointing counts as learning. Stay with five parts for longer and use the fewer choices setting. If you are worried about speech or hearing, talk to your paediatrician.
How to use this page at home
Say it, then find it
Play for a few minutes, then look for the same thing away from the screen: bengali words on the shelf, in the kitchen, on the way to school. A child learns a word properly when they meet it twice, once on the screen and once in their hand.
Ten minutes is enough
Short and happy beats long and tired. Stop while your child still wants more, and come back tomorrow: the same page on five short days teaches far more than one long sitting. Nothing here is scored, so there is no reason to push.
Use both languages
Tap the language button at the top to hear the words in your home language first and the second language after. Hearing the same picture named in two languages is one of the few things research agrees builds attention as well as vocabulary.
