Children notice vehicles long before they can say many other words. A toddler who hears a pressure horn or a train whistle will run to the window. This page turns that love into language: your child learns each vehicles name in Hindi and English, sees a clear picture and hears a fun sound, all in short games that end with a marble in the Goli Jar. It works as transport for kids learning at home, in a nursery class or on a phone while you wait at the bus stop.

What your child learns on this page

There are 25 vehicle cards, sorted by how they travel. Land vehicles include the car, bus, train, bicycle, auto-rickshaw, motorcycle, scooter, truck, ambulance, fire engine, police car, taxi, tractor, bullock cart, metro train, bullet train and cycle rickshaw. Water vehicles are the boat, ship, canoe and speedboat. Air vehicles are the aeroplane, helicopter, rocket and parachute. Each card shows one picture, says the English name and the Hindi name (for example रेलगाड़ी for train and बैलगाड़ी for bullock cart) and gives a one-line fact such as "A bicycle has two wheels."

The full list with 🔊 buttons sits in the word list above, so you do not need a separate vehicles name chart. You can print this page from your browser and pin the list on the fridge.

What is transportation for preschoolers? (vehicles name kya hota hai)

For a three-year-old, transport simply means "things that take people and things from one place to another". A vehicle is the thing itself: the bus, the boat, the plane. You can explain it in one line: "A vehicle carries us. Some go on the road, some go on water, some fly in the air." That is enough. Words like "means of transport" come later, around UKG and class 1.

How to use this page

  • Listen: your child taps any picture and hears the name in Hindi and English. This is the best start for toddlers.
  • Find it: Golu asks "Where is the bus?" and shows two to four big pictures. The number of choices follows the age you set in Settings.
  • Sounds: the game plays a sound like "choo choo" or "tring tring" and asks which vehicle makes it. Children love this one, and it builds listening skills.
  • Silly or right?: "The train says tring tring!" Your child decides if that is silly. Laughing at a wrong sentence is real thinking.
  • Memory: turn over cards and find pairs.

The games never say "wrong". A mistaken tap gets a gentle hint: first the name of the picture tapped, then a glow on the right answer, then Golu points. Every round ends with a marble in the Goli Jar, and you can tap the jar to count marbles together. The अ+A button in the header changes the language order: Hindi then English, English then Hindi, Hindi only or English only. Calm motion and calm sound are in Settings, behind a grown-up check.

Land, water and air: different kinds of transport for kids

Sorting is how young children make sense of a big group of words. Once your child knows ten or twelve names, try this simple table together. Point to a picture in the game and ask, "Does it go on the road, on water or in the sky?"

Where it goesVehicles on this pageA question to ask
Road transport for kids (land)Car, bus, auto-rickshaw, scooter, truck, taxi, tractor, bullock cart, cycle rickshawHow many wheels does it have?

Helper vehiclesAmbulance, fire engine, police carWho drives it, and why does it have a siren?

The helper vehicles link nicely with our page on community helpers for kids: the driver, the firefighter and the police officer all appear there.

Which vehicles name to teach at each age

You do not need to teach all 25 at once. Here is a gentle plan that follows how language grows between two and six.

  • Age 2-3 (vehicles names for toddlers): start with 5 vehicles name that your child actually sees: car, bus, bicycle, auto and train. Use the Listen mode and copy the sounds: "vroom", "beep beep". Two-word phrases like "big bus" are a win.
  • Age 3-4 (nursery): grow to 10 and then 15 names. Add the aeroplane, boat, truck, ambulance and fire engine. Play Find it with three choices.
  • Age 4-5 (LKG): reach about 20 names and begin sorting by land, water and air. Talk about wheels: two, three, four or many.
  • Age 5-6 (vehicles name for UKG class and class 1): learn all 25, including the canoe, parachute, metro and bullet train. Your child can now say a full sentence, such as "A tractor helps the farmer." This is also a good age to write the easy words, like BUS, CAR and VAN, to practise vehicles name spelling.

How to teach transportation to preschoolers in 5-10 minutes a day

Short and real beats long and screen-based. Play one or two rounds here, then take the words outside.

  1. Window watch: stand at the gate or balcony for five minutes. Name each vehicle on road as it passes: "ऑटो! Auto!" Count how many you see.
  2. Toy sort: put toy cars, a boat and a plane on the floor. Make three zones with a towel (road), a blue dupatta (water) and a pillow (sky).
  3. Sound game: you make the sound, your child guesses. Then swap.
  4. Trip talk: on the way to school, ask "What are we riding today?" Real transport for kids to school is the best lesson, whether that is a school van, an auto or a walk.
  5. Drawing time: transport for kids drawing can be very simple. A bus is a rectangle with two circles. A boat is a half circle with a triangle sail. Let your child colour it on our colouring pages or on paper.

Songs work well too. Sing "The wheels on the bus" and swap in other vehicles: "The horn on the auto goes put put put."

Fun facts and Indian context

India has many vehicles that picture books from other countries skip: the auto-rickshaw with three wheels, the cycle rickshaw, the bullock cart in villages and the tractor on the farm. Our list includes them so that children see their own streets. The metro now runs in many Indian cities, and the bullet train is a fun word for children who love speed. Around the world, children will spot taxis, buses and trains everywhere, so these vehicle names help in any country.

  • A bicycle is a pollution free vehicle. Walking and cycling for short trips keeps the air clean, a message we explore on the environment for kids page.
  • A rocket carries astronauts and satellites into space. Continue that story on our solar system for kids page.
  • A fire engine is red in many countries so everyone can see it quickly. Talk about colours in Hindi and English as you point: red fire engine, yellow taxi, white ambulance.

Road safety to add while you teach

Every vehicle lesson is a chance to repeat a safety rule, in a calm voice. Hold hands near the road. Wait on the footpath. Wear a helmet on a scooter. Sit down in the bus. Use a seat belt in the car. Keep it to one rule a day so it sticks.

Tips for every child

Praise the effort, not only the answer: "You listened so carefully to that sound!" If your child gets frustrated, switch to Listen mode, where there is nothing to get right. For a child with speech delay, sounds like "choo choo" and "beep" are often easier than full words, so celebrate them as real talking. Autistic children who love vehicles may enjoy the same card many times; that repetition is fine. In bilingual homes, set the अ+A button to the home language first. If you are worried about speech, talk to your paediatrician.

Screen time: play together and keep sessions short, about 10 minutes. Children under two learn more from a grown-up and real toy vehicles than from a screen.

When your child is ready for more, explore animal names in Hindi and English or sports names for kids.
